We are seeking a research assistant with an interest in animal studies to join the Clinical Biochemistry Department at Bispebjerg Hospital starting September 1st or as per agreement. The position is temporary for 1 year with the potential to continue as a PhD student. You will be part of Nicolai J. Wewer Albrechtsen's research group. See our publications here

About our research

Our research focuses on both basic and clinical studies within metabolism and metabolic diseases. We aim to generate new insights into the liver as a metabolic organ through preclinical and clinical trials, exploring how diseases impact liver function and its interaction with other organs. We focus particularly on gut hormones, especially glucagon, and their roles in both health and disease. Our methods range from developing new laboratory assays, conducting in vitro and in vivo animal studies, performing clinical trials in healthy individuals and patients, to utilizing modern "omics" methods and large international databases.

Your job responsibilities will include:

  • Being the leading figure on a research project within the field of liver metabolism.
  • Planning, designing, and performing animal studies independently after thorough training.
  • Measurements of samples from animal experiments using e.g. ELISA.
  • Data analysis and visualization, and presentations of results.
  • Interdisciplinary collaborations within the department and beyond the hospital.

We value that you:

  • Hold a relevant Master’s degree (MSc in Biomedicine, Human biology or similar).
  • Have obtained a FELASA certificate with EU functions ABD. Hands-on experience with animal research is an advantage.
  • Are motivated to learn new specialized techniques.
  • Have strong communication skills and can collaborate with many different professional groups.

What we offer

  • The opportunity to contribute to exciting research in metabolism and diabetes including co-authorships on scientific publications.
  • Thorough training in handling of mice including surgical procedures.
  • A strong interdisciplinary team comprising doctors, students, postdocs, bioanalysts, etc.
  • Participation in meetings with both scientific and social focus.
