RF Systems Architect

Do you have passion for RF technology and want to work in an international organization developing world-class Doppler Radars?

Then this is your chance to join Weibel in an exciting position as RF System Architect in our Antenna group. We can offer a great opportunity where you get to use your technical skills in an innovative environment where our goal is to push the performance of radars to the limit.

At Weibel you will join a family-owned company that develops and produces state of the art radar systems. We have a full-scale in-house production facility that allows us to explore new solutions in close collaboration with our production team without compromising quality. Our biggest asset is our talented employees, and we believe that by creating an environment that foster open and curious discussions we can reach the best possible solutions.

About the position

As our new colleague you will have a pivotal role in the development of the RF subsystem architecture including system-level documentation. You will work in close collaboration with our systems engineering team to secure compliance with overall requirements. Furthermore, you will support the design engineers who cover various specialized disciplines such as microwave, analog and digital hardware, and mechanical – to secure desired subsystem functionality.

The position will include following tasks:

  • Defining RF subsystem architectures e.g. driving subsystem breakdown while evaluating architectural implementation options for Tx and Rx front-end chains.
  • Clarifying requirements to subsystem elements through computation of budgets (RF, power, weight, MTBF) and securing compliance to applicable standards, project specifics etc.
  • Facilitating design support by reviewing and approving designs of subsystems.
  • Driving characterization, mathematical modeling, and simulation of subsystems.
  • Coordinating technical solutions with systems engineers, design engineers, manufacturing representatives etc. while assessing and maintaining an overview on technical risks.
  • Roadmapping and ensuring that developed solutions are aligned with our platform roadmaps to enable reuse in future deliveries.
  • Collaboration with customers on requirements and design reviews.
  • Executing integration tests and verification on subsystem level in LAB facilities.
  • Supporting RF hardware obsolescence handling.

Working at Weibel is an exciting opportunity to take part in the development of next our generation radar platform architectures while driving your RF subsystem deliverables.

About you

You thrive in a dynamic project-driven environment where you work both independently and in close collaboration with your team and cross-functional stakeholders. You embrace continuous learning and prefer a fast-working pace, that enables you to get involved in simultaneous R&D activities – some requiring immediate focus while others are mapped into project plans.

Your CV should include:

  • A university degree within electrical engineering, physics or similar – preferably with a specialization in RF/Microwave.
  • An analytical mindset and ability to break-down complex challenges while keeping a holistic overview.
  • Experience with mathematical characteristics and modelling of RF systems incl. scenario simulations.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements for radio, safety, and EMC.
  • Good communication skills in English – both written and verbal.

Experience with systems or concept engineering and related methodologies such as MBSE, SysML, UML and related tools e.g. Enterprise Architect is considered an advantage.

It is a prerequisite for this position that you can obtain security clearance.

Your new team

Our team currently consists of seven enthusiastic colleagues and our level of experience varies from a few years to more than 30 years of hands-on experience within the field of radar technology. The team is part of our larger cross-functional Antenna R&D group combining architecture and design-level specialists. We have chosen to organize the group in this manner because we believe that bringing people with different competencies and backgrounds together early in the process will lead to the best solutions.
