Turbine/Blade Data Scientist

With the ongoing green transition and the dynamic growth of the wind energy sector, we are embarking on an exciting and challenging journey. Join us as we are currently seeking a candidate with experience in the wind industry to strengthen our digital R&D team.

About this position
As our new Turbine/Blade Data Scientist, you will join our R&D team, which includes software developers, data analysts, fiber optic experts, and hardware developers. You will work closely with specialists in electronics, optics, and sensor technology in the Sensors and Embedded Software and Digital & Cloud Solutions departments. This collaboration aims to deliver innovative sensing solutions that enhance the efficiency of wind turbines worldwide.

We are looking for someone with a background in the wind industry who can bring their ideas and solutions to both new and existing standard solutions.

Your main tasks and responsibilities
As a Turbine/Blade Data Scientist, you will develop concepts and algorithms with inputs from customers and internal specialists for all our sensing products and solutions. By developing systems that feed real-time data to the wind turbine controllers, your contributions will directly help make wind energy more efficient and affordable.

Furthermore, you will:

  • Continuously improving our codebase and testing infrastructure.
  • Implement production ready concepts and technical solutions addressing market challenges.
  • Improve and simplify existing blade monitoring and optimization solutions. This includes autonomous bending moment calibration and autonomous ice detection.
  • Regularly evaluate new possible concepts and algorithms.

Your qualifications and skills

  • Have a Physics degree, Wind Energy Master, or similar educations.
  • Have strong Python programming skills.
  • Experience with load and control within wind energy.
  • Be able to transform blade dynamics into software algorithms.

Furthermore, it is an advantage if you have:

  • Worked with measurement data.
  • Speak English fluently, since you will be part of a global organization.
