Student Assistent within wood materials

Danish Technological Institute (DTI) in Taastrup is looking for a motivated student asisstant to help with mechanical testing and analysis of wooden building materials. 

As our new student assistant, you will among other things participate in a research project on analysing the wood species Abies Grandis as potential future building material. This entails tasks such as:

  • visual wood grading
  • 4-point bending tests
  • Summarizing and analysing the data.

Furthermore, the job will involve general tasks in our laboratory and demonstrator building like monitoring of moisture levels in building materials and other mechanical testing. The work can sometimes require that you are not shy about taking on physically demanding tasks.

Scientific student with interest in timber
You are probably a student within a scientific or engineering field and have at least two years left of your studies. International and Danish students are both welcome, the supervision will be in English. It is an advantage if you have knowledge about wood, but it is not a requirement. The position does not require any specific pre-knowledge as you will be introduced to all tasks. Willingness to learn and eagerness to do a good job is mandatory.

The weekly hours are approximately 10-12 hours with the possibility of adding more hours during busy periods. Naturally, we will be flexible around exam periods in your studies.

The position is first limited to 6 months with the possibility for extension.The job takes place at Danish Technological Institute in Taastrup. Buses run directly to the door, Høje Taastrup Station is close by, and parking can be provided on the property.

You will be part of a center that offers expert knowledge of wood and other bio-based materials to the building industry.
