Peacebuilding Specialist

Libya -Tripoli

About the job

The role will focus on monitoring the conflict context and conducting conflict analysis, providing technical guidance to the peacebuilding programme staff and quality assurance of all peacebuilding activities, support capacity development of DRC staff and partners and contributing to the development of project proposals. 

Main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Provide regular updates to the line manager on information relevant to the conflict context.
  • Conduct participatory conflict analysis in DRC’s areas of intervention to ensure conflict-sensitive programming.
  • Develop technical guidance, tools, and standard operating procedures to support the peacebuilding programme staff with the implementation of high-quality peacebuilding activities.
  • Support the peacebuilding programme staff with mobilization of civil society networks and facilitation of community dialogues.
  • Support the peacebuilding programme staff with awareness raising activities on social cohesion and human rights.
  • Contribute to monitoring, evaluation and reporting of peacebuilding projects, including developing monitoring and evaluation tools, tracking progress on peacebuilding indicators and drafting inputs for donor reports.
  • Conduct trainings of DRC staff (peacebuilding and other sectors) and partners (CSOs, local authorities) on conflict analysis, conflict sensitivity, conflict management and other relevant topics.
  • Identify entry points and opportunities to promote social cohesion and strengthen DRC’s peacebuilding programming.
  • Provide technical inputs to project concept notes and proposals on peacebuilding.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the line manager.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for an individual with strong communication skills, able to come up with technical guidance and related tools,  able to deliver conflict analysis, conflict sensitivity, conflict management and other relevant topics , and able to provide technical inputs to project concept notes and proposals on peacebuilding.

Required

  • At least 3 years of work experience in peacebuilding, conflict analysis, conflict sensitivity, conflict management or another relevant field.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the conflict context and dynamics in Libya.
  • Experience working with local authorities, communities, and civil society.
  • Experience facilitating trainings, workshops, and dialogues.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills, including an ability to analyze and present information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Ability to set priorities and to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Political and cultural sensitivity, including ability to adapt to different contexts and work with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Affinity with working with displacement-affected populations.

We offer

Contract length: 6 months – Subject to funding confirmation.

Band: G (Non-management )

Designation of Duty Station: Tripoli libya with regular travel within Western Libya and to Tunis if required.

Start date: As soon as possible.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of national Employment.
