Long-term Energy Advisor for offshore wind in India

The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) and Danida are seeking an experienced Long-term Energy Adviser (N1) in India to be based in Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in the Government of India (MNRE).

The Long-term Energy Advisor will be an important part of the Centre of Excellence for Offshore Wind and Renewable Energy which is a joint centre between MNRE and DEA. The Centre of Excellence is part of the India- Denmark Energy Partnership (INDEP).

Since 2018, India and Denmark have collaborated on the establishment of the Indian offshore wind sector and in 2021 the Centre of Excellence for Offshore Wind and Renewable Energy was inaugurated in Delhi. The vision of the Centre is to become a leading knowledge hub working for development of offshore wind energy in India. 

As Long-term Energy Advisor you will act as Head of Secretariat and lead the activities of the Centre, provide technical advice, and share knowledge to MNRE and its implementing agencies, in order to contribute to a demand driven cooperation between the partners and the DEA. You will be based in New Delhi and working closely with your Indian colleagues, and bridging to the DEA, which is responsible for the implementation of the energy programme between India and Denmark. You will work closely with the team in Copenhagen, who will support your work on all activities related to offshore wind. 

The successful candidate should have a solid knowledge of global offshore wind energy polices and a relevant technical or commercial university degree as well as extensive experience working with offshore wind energy. A solid understanding of the Danish energy model and offshore wind development in Denmark is also important. The ability to be self-driven and work individually is a key success criteria as well as the motivation to work as a part of the entire INDEP team.

Knowledge of India’s power sector and culture will also be an advantage. Your written and oral English should be excellent. Your assignment will be in New Delhi and will have a total duration of 3 years.
