Do you understand what happens between a buying decision and a sales plan - and what goes wrong when the systems in between can’t keep up? Do you want to work at the heart of a global retail transformation, shaping how a much-loved brand plans, trades and manages its commercial operations? Are you commercially sharp, analytically rigorous, and equally comfortable in a trade meeting with Merchandisers as you are writing requirements with an IT development team?
If so, you are exactly the person we are looking for at Flying Tiger Copenhagen to join our team based at our HQ in Copenhagen.
About the role:
As our IT Business Analyst dedicated to a Commercial domain you will work closely with our Buying, Merchandising, Pricing, Planning, Finance and Tech teams to implement commercial process and systems change throughout the company.
You will sit within an international and highly capable IT Delivery team that is responsible for evolving our current commercial platforms as well as implementing new systems to support our business goals.
You will liaise with project managers, solution architects and commercial specialists on strategic projects spanning requirements gathering, process design, systems configuration, testing and delivery. You will work with commercial stakeholders at all levels - from junior allocators to senior buying directors - identifying and documenting their needs and producing the relevant specifications. You will provide the critical thread between the commercial business and IT, ensuring that what gets built reflects how the business buys, plans, and trades.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather and document functional and non-functional requirements across Buying, Merchandising, Planning, Pricing and Supply Chain - and turn them into accurate, actionable requirements or similar.
- Work with commercial teams and stakeholders to refine requirements and shape solution design that reflects how the business operates.
- Map current and future state processes across commercial domains including range planning, open-to-buy management, allocation, replenishment and markdown - ensuring holistic understanding and optimization.
- Identify operational pain points within commercial functions and drive pragmatic, scalable improvements.
- Champion effective communication and stakeholder engagement across all commercial workstreams and project phases.
- Participate in project meetings to review progress, surface issues and manage risks.
- Create testable acceptance criteria for both manual and automated testing.
- Drive and participate in UAT with commercial end-users including buyers, planners and allocators.
- Provide hands-on support during go-live phases and lead the knowledge handover to commercial super-users.
- Lead the delivery of smaller commercial demands and enhancements, overseeing end-to-end execution.
Your Profile:
You are commercially minded as well as analytically rigorous. You can walk into a Merchandising or Buying team and build credibility quickly, because you understand what they do, what decisions they make, and what is at stake when the systems that support them fall short.
You are proactive and driven. You are curious, detail-oriented and have a genuine drive for improvement. You are able to facilitate debate, challenge constructively and translate between two worlds - the language of commercial operations and the language of IT delivery.
You enjoy working with both technical and business teams, and you bring a sense of energy and clarity to everything you do.
Some of your key characteristics are that you are:
- Naturally analytical and detail-oriented, with strong commercial instinct.
- Able to problem-solve and drive improvement across complex commercial processes.
- Pragmatic- you find sensible, deliverable solutions that balance time, cost and quality.
- Expert at process mapping and business process re-engineering within retail commercial functions.
- Expert at defining clear and concise business requirements that can be given to any person actioning them, such as development and test teams.
- Able to translate between commercial operations and IT, ensuring solution design addresses (or resolves) business needs.
- Highly competent in facilitating workshops with senior commercial stakeholders.
- Experienced across the full project lifecycle from discovery through implementation.
- Flexible and able to think laterally to find solutions under pressure.
Your success is measured not by documents delivered, but by whether the commercial teams you work with are genuinely better off - and whether the solutions built reflect what the business needs.
We would like to see the following skills:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst, with at least 3 years working directly with commercial retail functions (Buying, Merchandising, Planning or Supply Chain).
- Demonstrable experience analysing and redesigning commercial processes: range planning, demand forecasting, OTB management, allocation, replenishment or markdown.
- Previous experience on programmes involving ERP or merchandise planning systems.
- Experience working across both agile and traditional delivery programmes.
- Experienced in at least one of: E-commerce trading, Merchandise Financial Planning, range planning systems, store systems.
- Competent in process mapping tools using BPMN or UML.
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualisation — Power BI, Tableau or SQL strongly preferred.
- Write and speak English fluently.
