Your Role: Make an Impact

In this role, you will be part of a Database Administration team responsible for the administration, availability, security, and performance of SQL Server databases and supporting cloud platforms. You’ll collaborate closely with application teams, infrastructure teams, developers, platform teams, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and effective delivery in database management, cloud adoption, modernization, security, and operational improvement.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain SQL Server databases across development and production environments.
  • Perform SQL Server installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and migrations, including Azure migrations.
  • Monitor database health, performance, availability, backup, and recovery activities.
  • Support SQL Server environments on Microsoft Azure, including Azure Virtual Machines, storage, and monitoring.
  • Provide basic administration support for Azure Databricks and Unity Catalog, including access and permissions management.
  • Manage database security, user access, roles, permissions, encryption, and auditing in line with best practices.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot database alerts, incidents, and production issues, escalating when required.
  • Execute database maintenance activities, support deployments and approved change requests, and contribute to automation and continuous improvement of SQL Server operations.

Database Administration and Operational Excellence

We are looking for a motivated technology professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and can bring precision, technical curiosity, and a solid operational mindset to the team.

To succeed in this role, you bring/are:

  • 2 – 4 years of practical experience in Microsoft SQL Server administration.
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server administration, including database architecture, performance monitoring, security, backup, and recovery.
  • Hands-on experience using SQL Server tools such as SSMS, Query Store, Extended Events, and migration tools for administration, troubleshooting, and migrations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, including supporting SQL Server workloads in Azure environments.
  • Basic knowledge of Azure Databricks, Unity Catalog, and cloud access management.
  • Basic PowerShell and/or T-SQL scripting skills for routine administration and automation tasks.
  • Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, and change management processes in database or infrastructure environments.
  • Good attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage time-sensitive operational tasks.
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, including pipelines and repositories, and familiarity with Infrastructure as Code concepts such as Terraform, will be an advantage.
  • Microsoft Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300) certification is an advantage.
  • Experience with relational database concepts, data modelling, hybrid on-premises and Azure environments, or database modernization initiatives is an advantage.
