Cobol Developer

We are searching for a Problem solver! 

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Pension Integrators team which is located in Warsaw, Poland, and in Roskilde, Denmark. 
 
As a developer at BEC, you will join a functional KanBan team, which is responsible for A to Z maintaining functionality in our pension area. The team consists of software engineers, business analysts, and a team architect reporting to the development manager. The team is a part of the omnichannel domain and delivers maintenance and support on 4 different Pension-related systems. 

Two of the pension systems are third-party solutions that the team maintains integrations to. Collaboration with third party vendors is a natural part of everyday life. In addition, the team also maintains its own pension systems on the BEC mainframe. BEC has a general strategy to decouple mainframe integrations by creating API for integrations going forward. You can expect to contribute to this. In addition, we are also aspiring to start establishing automated test for as much of our codebase as possible. 

In BEC you will join a community of over 60 experienced Mainframe developers with an average experience of over 8 years. 

Primary task and responsibilities include:  

  • Investigating incidents in COBOL and Java based components 

  • Renewing certificates and keeping security for applications up to date 

  • Monitoring and actively reacting to alerts and warnings in relation to 4 Pension systems 

  • Communicating with vendors and customers when errors occur 

  • Assistance in maintenance of test environments (RHEL on Openshift and MS SQL databases) 

  • Investigate systems on OpenShift Container Platform  

  • Working with JN Data, our hosting vendor, on OPC jobs using JCL 

  • Maintaining and improving existing solutions  

  • Preparing technical and procedural documentation required for software 

  • Together with the team working on achieving the team goals  

You will also work with: 

  • Helping to establish automated testing for the solutions 

  • To succeed you will have:  

  • Basic understanding of mainframe development in Cobol  

  • Experience in Java 

  • Undearstanding of agile/scrum methodologies and a demonstrated ability to contribute to an agile development environment 

  • To be self-driven, proactive and don’t be shy to express your opinion 

  • Basic knowledge of Windows Server environment 

  • To be adaptive towards change, curious to learn and understand the business objectives 

  • To be a team player with focus on working together as a team 

  • Demonstrative analytical skills and come with innovative solutions 

  • With colleagues in teams distributed in Denmark and Poland, you must master English at a high level both in writing and orally. 

It’s nice-to-have:  

  • It would be nice if you have experience with some of: Git/BitBucket, JIRA, API, Spring framework, Jenkins, ServiceNow, API testing tools
