Cobol software engineer (senior) - payment execution

We are searching for a Cobol software engineer (senior)

This position is based at our friendly office in Warsaw, Poland and you will join our Payments domain. The hiring team is in charge of building components to support the European payments infrastructure. The job offers the opportunity to build the future infrastructure that will be combining Cobol and Java solutions to enable our customers to stay competitive. At BEC, we prefer to collaborate often in the office, but we also keep the opportunity to work remotely up to 8 days per month. Your direct manager will be Ali Razvi. 

Primary tasks and responsibilities include:

  • IDz (IBM Developer for z/OS) used for development, debugging and DB2 queries 

  • BEC company standard tools like PUMA for development 

  • MQ – Message Queue 

  • DB2 – database 

  • JCL – Job Control Language  

  • Git for version-control 

  • Bitbucket - source code repository 

  • Jira – Agile project management 

  • ServiceNow – incident and change 

  • Open to travel to Denmark 1-2 times / year. 

To suceed you will have:

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience

  • A curious mind with an open nature and desire to knowledge-share with others.  

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken) 

  • Comfortable to speak on meetings. 

It’s nice-to-have:

  • Additional knowledge on eg. Java or other object oriented programming language. 

  • Specific sector knowledge
