Senior Cobol Developer

We are looking for an experienced Senior cobol engineer to join our Payments Teamat our friendly office in Warsaw, Poland. As a Senior Cobol Engineer, you will be responsible for building components to support the European payments infrastructure.

The Payments team focuses on developing and managing essential payment systems, including domestic and international services, debit cards, wallet solutions, and SWIFT. We ensure secure and stable transactions, maintain compliance with industry standards, and integrate payment infrastructure with third parties.

This role offers the opportunity to build future infrastructure by combining Cobol and Java solutions, helping our customers stay competitive. The team consists of 15 dedicated members split between Denmark and Poland. At BEC, we prefer frequent office collaboration but also offer the flexibility to work remotely up to 8 days per month. Your direct manager will be Ali Razvi.

Primary tasks and responsibilities include:

• Development, debugging, and DB2 queries using IDz (IBM Developer for z/OS)
• Utilizing BEC company standard tools like PUMA for development
• Working with MQ (Message Queue)
• Managing DB2 databases
• Using JCL (Job Control Language)
• Version control with Git
• Source code repository with Bitbucket
• Agile project management with Jira
• Incident and change management with ServiceNow
• Open to travel to Denmark 1-2 times per year

To succeed, you will have:

• A curious mind with an open nature and a desire to share knowledge with others
• Fluency in English (written and spoken)
• Comfort speaking in meetings

Nice-to-have:

• Additional knowledge of Java or other object-oriented programming languages
• Specific sector knowledge
