Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified person to hold the role of Finance Team Leader in DRC's operations in Diyala

 

About the job

The Finance Team Leader role is to provide technical support and manage team with capacity building for the finance team in the South Area office of DRC Iraq and work closely work with the Support Services Manager and the Country Finance Manager to facilitate the development of area level highly effective,  Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

 

Responsibilities:

Management

  • Lead and manage the team (including people planning, performance, well-being, and development)
  • Ensure effective planning and quality implementation of the sector/support activities
  • Ensure daily monitoring of area
  • Asses the daily quality
  • Provide technical support and inputs
  • Reporting

 

Transfers and payments

  • Ensure all payments are made timely and in accordance with existing DRC forms
  • Ensure all payments meet requirements of National Law and engage with authorities, tax advisors or other stakeholders to ensure tax requirements are met accordingly
  • Ensure that payment documents comply with DRC internal financial procedures and donor regulations
  • Ensure proper transfer of funds from DRC HQ in Copenhagen to country office

 

Accounting

  • Ensure all expenses enter the DRC accounting system in time and of highest quality
  • Ensure to update cashbooks on a daily basis to reflect the actual status of existing cash count and bank balance in all currencies
  • Ensure all bank accounts statements are reconciled
  • Ensure proper filing system for financial documents

 

Budget control, planning and reporting

  • Develop and ensure the implementation of shared cost tools
  • Liaise with Program Managers on regular budget monitoring
  • Prepare and use budget control tools for regular budget follow up
  • Prepare and assist in issuing donor reports
  • Support the development of new proposals with financial information for budgeting
  • Bi-Weekly Cash Book
  • Monthly stock update
  • Monthly financial report (with all supporting documentation attached to it)
  • Reporting as required

 

DRC Dynamics ERP System

  • Ensure that processes under supervision are handled properly via DRC Dynamics
  • Ensure ERP finance functionalities are properly used by concerned staff and team has proper knowledge and access to information to use DRC Dynamics
  • Apply reports and data analytics from ERP system to improve performance in area of concern

 

As Team Leader the post-holder is responsible for the following:

  • Accountable for people management of employees, usually working in the same area of work
  • Accountable for ensuring that agreed work plans and tasks set by the next-level up Manager are implemented on time
  • Hiring and termination of employees and conducting performance appraisals (closely overseen by the next-level manager)
  • And any other assignment by the line manager
  • Deliver technical support and guidance to team
  • Fulfil daily accounting tasks and assist in coordinating financial functions and services
  •  Producing relevant financial previsions and reports on a regular basis

 

 

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least 3 years of relevant experience. Moreover, we also expect the following:

 

Required

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in financial/accounting field
  • Proven management skills and a competence in people management
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial IT systems
  • Basic proficiency in PowerPoint and Word
  • Proven ability to plan long-term, organize priorities and work under programmatic pressures with detail orientation and professional grace
  • Highly collaborative and able to establish positive working relationships with senior level management and all other stakeholders to maximize cooperation and productivity
  • Proven ability to manage large and varied workloads, and deal constructively with stress and periods with long hours
  • Experience in working in NGOs
  • Fully professional proficiency in Arabic and English

 

Education

  • University degree in finance and accounting and with relevant or equivalent professional qualification
