International Business Controller

We are looking for a sound and experienced Business Controller to the Headquarters of DRC Danish Refugee Councill (DRC). The purpose of the position is to provide proactive financial controlling related to DRC’s projects, along with the necessary operational support to our country offices, such as informing and advising on financial risks. As Business Controller there is also the opportunity to join in on a project along the side to define as part of a working group improvements around specific financial processes including the use of DRC’s cloud-based ERP system Microsoft Dynamics 365.

 

Who are we?

The Department of Finance, Supply Chain and Risk (FRISC) consists of more than 70 colleagues divided into 4 divisions. You will be part of the Business Controlling Section, under the Operational Finance Division,  that consists of 12 dedicated Business Controllers working together as partners to our DRC Operations in over 40 countries. About the job

Key responsibilities:

 

Operational Finance Project Controlling

  • Review of proposal budgets and financial donor reports for quality assurance, knowledge around institutional donors of advantage
  • Monthly controlling of assigned country office project portfolio via BI and Power BI reports, such as project financial well-being and data quality around financial project management
  • Control country Master Budgets
  • Audit coordination for projects to be audited at Headquarters, e.g., DANIDA, US AID and SIDA

 

Operational Finance Expert Advice

  • Provide on demand expert advice to country offices around financial project management
  • Guide country offices around technical advice related to financial project management in Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Support country office capacity building to enhance compliance to DRC’s internal finance policies and processes as well as external contractual binding donor requirements
  • Inform, advise and escalate, when necessary, risks around the financial wellbeing of a country operation and provide possible mitigation measures to address the issue
  • Collaborate with crosscutting operational support functions to address financial issues in an advisory function when needed
  • Contributing to assigned projects to improve standards around DRC’s ways of working

 

About you

To be successful in this role, we expect you to be an experienced finance professional, with high operational and ethical integrity, that can work autonomously on day-to-day aspects with a strong focus on controlling and quality assurance to achieve common goals across DRC. You must have a solid operational financial business background, combined with the elegance of communication and the precision of a surgeon. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 is of great advantage, although any ERP related experience will be a plus.

 

Our working language is English. Knowledge of the French language is highly desired for this opening. Arabic and Spanish skills are of advantage and Danish being an added value.

 

Moreover, we also expect the following:

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in relevant field, namely business administration, finance, etc.
  • (Business) Controller experience, at least 5 years, preferably from an international organization with project administration
  • Critical thinking and finding best practice solutions and being comfortable bringing these solutions forward to your colleagues and manager
  • Have attention to details while at the same time keeping an overview
  • Experienced user of Excel and Power BI is considered an advantage.
  • Experienced user of larger ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365) and understanding of ERP workflows.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 2-3 weeks per year

We offer

Contract length: Permanent

Working hours: 37 hours per week including lunch

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and AC (agreement for

academics). This is a national position for which local terms and conditions apply.
