Do you want to work with technology used by 150,000 people every day? Do you want to build solutions that connect schools, kindergartens, and families across Norway?
Then you might be our new Solution Architect for EG Vigilo!
Build Technology That Matters
As a Solution Architect at EG Vigilo, you will have overall technical responsibility for the solutions behind Norway's leading childhood administrative system (OAS) – a system that connects kindergartens, schools, after-school programs, and parents across Norway, used daily by over 150,000 unique users.
EG Vigilo is built on modern cloud services and a scalable technical platform serving municipalities, schools, and kindergartens throughout the country. As Solution Architect, you will have overall technical responsibility for a solution in continuous growth – and you will work closely with in-house developers, designers, and product owners to ensure that the architecture supports both today's needs and tomorrow's ambitions.
AI is a strategic focus area in the company, and you will play a central role in defining how new technology is integrated into the platform – from improving work processes to optimizing development workflows.
Your role: Ensuring the solution holds together – technically and functionally
You will be part of our in-house development team at Stølsmyr in Haugesund. Here you will work closely with skilled colleagues across development, product, and design. Together you will build and further develop a platform used by thousands every day, combining modern technology with real societal impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical strategy and direction: You define the overall technical vision and architecture principles for the product and platform, and ensure that technology choices are sustainable in the long term.
Platform and infrastructure: You are responsible for scalability, security, performance, and operations – ensuring the platform is robust and future-proof.
Architecture design and governance: You design the system architecture, define standards and best practices, and ensure that development aligns with these. You approve major technical decisions and are the final technical decision-maker on the team.
Bridge between business and technology: You translate business needs into technical solutions, and communicate technical choices in an understandable way to product owners, management, and other non-technical stakeholders.
Technical leadership and AI coaching: You serve as a mentor and sparring partner for developers, raise the technical level of the team, and share best practices – including within AI-assisted development. You take a coaching and guiding approach in everyday work.
Innovation and AI: You identify and implement AI tools that strengthen the development workflow, automate work processes, and improve quality in the platform – ensuring that new technology is integrated in a responsible and architecturally sound manner.
Your Profile: A Technical Expert with a Strong Architectural Mindset:
We are looking for you who communicate clearly and naturally with colleagues at all levels, both verbally and in writing, and who enjoy thinking big about solutions while being able to translate ideas into clear and actionable directions. You bring strong analytical skills, thrive on complex challenges, and focus on finding practical, workable solutions. You are also curious about how AI can improve development and ways of working, and eager to apply it in your daily work.
Additionally, we are also looking for someone who:
- Understands how business requirements are broken down into concrete solution designs.
- Has solid experience ensuring performance across frontend, backend, and database.
- Is good at building a broad and detailed overview of an entire solution – not only in new development, but also in existing systems.
- Has experience developing various products and solutions.
- Has relevant education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
- Has 5+ years of experience in systems development, preferably also as a software, systems, or solution architect.
Fluency in both Norwegain and English (written and spoken) is a mandatory requirement for this position.
What's in it for you?
