The General Accounting team in the FSSC is responsible for the IFRS accounting and reporting of about 30 entities with upstream oil and gas activities in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Norway, France and Indonesia.
The General Accounting team is a mutualized pool of accountants that will book transactions and produce IFRS accounting within accounting systems at SAP company code level (generally legal entity level). The General Accounting team is in charge of proper accounting internal control and proper closing documentation for a set of entities.
The General Accounting team is also managing the questions from external auditors both on statutory accounts and on consolidated accounts in coordination with the company E&P Head of IFRS and statutory accounting team.
Main duties & responsibilities
Prepare, plan and distribute monthly closing schedule in collaboration with controlling and accounting teams
Manage companies accounting and book GL entries across all finance functions (payroll, tax, accruals, complex operations) under IFRS standards, including abandonment and decommissioning estimates
Perform technical closing in SAP, run and quality assure SAP jobs, and maintain allocation keys
Coordinate with JV accounting for cutback processing File accounting vouchers in numerical order
Review and approve monthly closing schedule
Document closing file and reconcile closing accounts with supporting documentation;
Hold balance sheet reviews with the business as necessary to validate substance/existence/validity of balance sheet balances
Report actuals in Smart based on SAP closing and agreed mapping: contact with Head of IFRS & stat account (main contact), Asset controllers, OBO controllers, tax manager or corporate finance for any question.
Support the IFRS and statutory accounting experts for statutory accounts preparation per legal entity
Perform operational cash reporting and payments and inform Treasury
Perform asset accounting, including CAPEX clearing and all settlements in SAP AM
Prepare net booking value report as well as DD&A actuals
o Prepare net booking value report
o Prepare and book DD&A actuals
o Book payroll journal entries based on HR calculation and perform proper reconciliation between GL accounts and payroll. Support inpat/expat tax returns in coordination with HR teams
Required qualifications and experience
Bachelor degree in Accounting
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar financial position
A solid grasp of all financial topics and functions
Good communication skills
Be highly analytical with good problem-solving skills
Thorough understanding general accounting tools
Language: English and Dutch required, French is a plus
