Generic job description

Neptune is seeking to recruit a motivated individual looking to develop the next stage of their career in a commercial operations role. 

The Commercial Operations team at Neptune is small and has responsibilities over a wide range of activities across oil, gas, and NGLs in the Netherlands, UK and Norway. The team are required to take a flexible and holistic approach to optimally manage the sales contracts in order to maximize the value for the Company. 

 

 

Main duties & responsibilities

General:

  • Support the negotiation and execution of sales contracts, in particular the negotiation of operational terms
  • Ensure contractual compliance with executed sale and purchase agreements
  • Ensure timely delivery of information required by other departments, customers and other stakeholders
  • Prepare and send out weekly management reports
  • Actively assist in the development of systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness
     

Gas Operations:

  • Send nominations to the relevant pipeline operators and to customers
  • Receiving gas orders from customers and/or inform customers about planned gas deliveries as contractually agreed and issuing weekly instructions
  • Check if orders received are contractually correct and report potential deviations
  • Minimize the (financial) impact of deviations in production planning by sending re-nominations to pipe line operators and to customers
  • Processing the data in the relevant IT systems
  • Manage relationship with GMSL (GMSL provide out of office hours support)

 

Liquid (Crude and NGL) Operations;

  • Nominate product liftings, prepare and issue vessel Voyage Orders & Documentary Instructions.
  • Coordinate vessel vetting
  • Appoint Independent Inspectors and/or Cargo Assurance where necessary
  • Monitor liftings and be aware of demurrage implications - manage demurrage claims / disputes

Investigate quantity claims / losses

 

Internal and external interfaces

The Operations Advisor will  interface with

  1. Neptune’s operated and non-operated asset teams
  2. Neptune Hydrocarbon Accounting
  3. Neptune Metering Engineers  
  4. a range of third party buyers
  5. pipeline and terminal operators
  6. GMSL. 

 

Context and environment

The position is located in Zoetermeer, Netherlands.

Training will mostly be on the job but supplemented by external training courses as required.

The team have an out of hours rota and there is a rota for weekend cover. Weekend duties include gas nominations and daily production reports. 

Required qualifications and experience

  • Relevant vocational education
  • Understanding of the work and activities for which the job is providing support
  • Min 3 years’ experience in oil and gas business
  • Ability to maintain focus with great attention to detail
  • Effective communicator (written and oral)
  • Ability to work under pressure and take pragmatic decisions
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently
  • Able to build strong relationships with internal and external counterparts
  • Good Excel skills
  • Fluent in English, Dutch is a plus
