Mechanical Design Engineer

Do you want to design and develop the world’s most advanced Doppler Radars?

At Weibel you will join a truly technology driven company that delivers excellent Doppler Radars across the world. You will become part of a company that has a full-scale production facility next to our developers – this gives us the opportunity to explore new solutions and together create an even better product for our customers.

We are experiencing high demand for our products and an increased complexity in the solutions our customers seek. That is why we are now looking for a new colleague to join our mechanical team and help develop the next generation of our complex radar systems.

Design and verification of the mechanical structures of the radar system

Your main responsibility will be to develop the concepts and designs of the mechanical solutions that enables the radar to perform in all its requirements.

Your tasks will be to:

  • Find and implement solutions to match the required performance in new and existing Pedestals and Mobile Tracking Base designs and concepts
  • Execute test/evaluation campaigns for mechanical designs and sub systems of the radar
  • Maintain and develop current and next-generation mechanical pedestal and Mobile Tracking Base platforms.

Other responsibilities and tasks will be:

  • Production optimization for mechanical parts – finding the right production methods for the tasks and adapting designs
  • Determine performance-limits and their causes for future improvements
  • Participate in assembly, test and evaluation of prototypes of designs as well as DFM reviews with our large in-house production team
  • Support our production and customers with updated documentation

Your profile

You have the ability to quickly get up to speed with the immediate design tasks while learning the specific design trade-offs relevant to Weibel radars.

Your professional CV includes:

  • A university degree within mechanical engineering
  • Experience with design of machined metal parts
  • Knowledge of welding in steel and aluminum will be an advantage
  • Experience with CAD tools e.g. Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault
  • Preferably knowledge of designing mechanical systems for harsh environments – from the arctic to the desert
  • Preferably experience with development with CE compliance in mind
  • Communications skills in English

We do not expect you to have specific radar knowledge, we have a tailored introduction to radar technology ready for you.

Your new team

At Weibel’s Technology department, you will join more than 190 highly competent and dedicated colleagues. We are a team of 15 mechanical engineers with anything from a few to 30+ years of experience, working on a variety of projects. We work in close collaboration with electronic engineers, hardware engineers, technical designers, production and system architects, because we whole-heartedly believe that bringing people with different competencies together early in the design process will generate the best solutions.
