Mechanical Engineer

Hydraulic design for Two-stroke Engine Design
Do you want to be a part of the green transition and help decarbonize the two-stroke propulsion engines? At MAN Energy Solutions we are designing the future engines for alternative fuels within the maritime industry. By using our vast experience along with innovative and creative development, we seek to change the traditional way of fueling two-stroke engines. As an employee at MAN Energy Solutions, you will have the opportunity to develop a green future together with highly talented colleagues. Together we are moving big things to zero!

You will play an important role in:

As our new Mechanical Engineer, you will be working in the Hydraulics and Control Department where we calculate and design the hydraulic equipment for two-stroke engines.
We are working with cutting-edge technology within hydraulic pumps, control blocks and piping that requires design with high mechanical reliability.
Our work is within technology areas that very few companies operate in, trying to reach new standards for how we deal with an increasing need for green fuel solutions.

You will:

  • Design hydraulic pump units (both mechanically and electrically driven), control blocks, piping and other mechanical parts by means of CAD tools and calculations.
  • Ensure that the design is compliant with the requirement specification and rules, e.g. design review, risk assessment and documentation of design changes.
  • Be creative and bring new ideas and perspectives to the way we work.
  • Conduct meetings with colleagues and external partners (e.g. sub-suppliers and Licensees).
  • Cooperate and communicate with stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Troubleshoot on issues on existing equipment together with our superintendents.

You will be the responsible engineer for specific areas and be the “go-to” person for your nearest colleagues and customers. You are expected to participate in retrofit projects, where you as an expert in your area, will help rebuild the existing fleet into higher efficiency with greener fuel types.

We imagine that you:

  • Have a relevant education in Engineering.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of experience working with the design of hydraulic components.
  • Can support our team and add valuable knowledge within the design of mechanical hydraulic components.
  • Bring an enthusiastic mindset that can help us achieve a green transition for the future of two-stroke propulsion engines.
  • Like to work in a passionate team together with your colleagues and other stakeholders, sharing your ideas, experience and input to ongoing activities.
  • Be able to translate theory and ideas into practical design by 3D CAD program – we use Siemens NX.
  • Ideally have some experience working in a project-based organization with cross-functional cooperation between different departments.
  • Solid English skills both verbal and written are required.

Welcome to Hydraulics & Control
You will be part of a team consisting of 11 designers with a broad variety of backgrounds. We have an open culture; we thrive on challenges and support each other in an environment where we take shared responsibility for our designs long after they have left the drawing board and entered service. In discussions, ideas can be lifted and analyzed together in a positive and constructive atmosphere.

We have the responsibility for designing the hydraulic equipment in close collaboration with various departments in the organization and sub-suppliers. Most of our work is to design new parts that are still in the development phase. In order to reach the best possible results, we all contribute with a lot of creativity along with a high level of knowledge within mechanical design.

We also handle the support and communication with our Licensees in order to help them with the manufacturing of engine designs.

What can you expect from us:
We value our employees highly and constantly seek to develop and grow our employees. We have a broad selection of both internal and external courses.

You will also have the possibility to visit our Licensees in Japan, Korea and China, as well as participate in maintenance work on board vessels in service. These trips have both an educational purpose for you to develop and to support our superintendents and Licensees.

When starting a position in our team you will have an experienced colleague as your mentor. This way we ensure that you get a swift and safe start on your new adventure.
