Polytech A/S is seeking a Technical ‘Project Manager’ for our Materials & Structural Engineering department; a role designed for those who thrive on driving innovation from concept to reality.
About the role:
Wind energy is one of the most promising renewable energy sources, and Polytech supports the energy transition by providing reliable solutions that protect and enhance the performance of wind turbines. To further support our customers and continue pushing the forefront of development, we are looking for a new colleague to join our talented team.
As a Technical ‘Project Manager’, you will be at the forefront of developing, prototyping, and testing new materials and products for the wind industry. Your work will span the entire development project lifecycle, from laboratory material development to the production and field testing of complex products. You will have direct access to our state-of-the-art prototype and testing facilities, enabling you to turn ideas into tangible solutions, support the team in meeting company targets, and help realize our Technology strategy.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
Your primary task is to manage several product development projects of varying complexity. In addition to the internal projects, you will also oversee the definition and execution of field tests of new products on wind turbines, as well as following up on failure analysis of products in the field.
- Lead hands-on material, structural, and electrical development projects, guiding them from initial brainstorming and formulation through to implementation in production (TRL 0-9).
- Engage actively with prototype and testing facilities, ensuring that new concepts are rigorously optimised and evaluated.
- Engage directly with suppliers and contractors to achieve the best solutions, at the right cost and on time.
- Navigate the organisation to secure buy-in and approval, leveraging your ability to ask the right questions and build relationships across departments.
- Independently identify solutions, stakeholders, internal and external resources, ensuring the availability of testing equipment and expertise for each project.
- Monitor & report project progress and proactively address challenges, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to technical specifications.
- Oversee field tests and failure analysis of new products, translating findings into actionable improvements.
What We Expect:
- Engineering background
- At least 5 years of technical project management experience.
- Proven track record in hands-on project execution, especially in environments requiring prototyping, testing, and/or major product and investment projects.
- Familiarity with structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, DMAIC), risk management tools (e.g., DFMEA) and knowledge of Six Sigma principles.
- Resourceful and independent, able to navigate matrix organisations to secure necessary support and resources.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken. Some level of Danish is expected to work with the broader organization at all levels.
- Adaptable, quick to learn, and comfortable working in a fast-track, global, cross-functional environment.
- It is beneficial to have knowledge of blade manufacturing, as well as an understanding of WTGs and components.
What We Offer:
- A dynamic, hands-on role in a company dedicated to continuous improvement and innovation.
- Access to advanced prototype and testing facilities, supporting your drive for practical results.
- Opportunities for professional growth and development in a technology-driven environment.
- A chance to contribute to sustainable, innovative solutions shaping the future of the wind industry.
- A chance to be part of a great team of specialists, project managers and leaders.
