About the position:
Wind energy is one of the most promising renewable energy sources, and Polytech supports the energy transition by providing reliable solutions that protect and enhance the performance of wind turbine blades.

To further support our customers and continue pushing the forefront of development, we are looking for a new colleague with a Materials & Mechanical Engineering background to join our talented Materials & Structural Engineering department.

In this role, you will work on exciting R&D projects and tasks related to development of new exciting products and enhancing existing products and designs. You will work side by side with experienced specialists and project managers across the organization all contributing to meeting our customer demands and internal & industry standards.

As a Materials & Structures Engineer, you will make a visible impact on the team and the products while taking on challenging tasks that develop your skills. As a person, you are motivated by turning ideas into finished solutions, being hands on & proactive, and adapting quickly to change. You follow well defined procedures and standards to deliver your tasks, as well as contribute to the continuous improvement within the department by developing new methods and techniques. You consistently put customer needs at the center of your work while delivering high-quality engineering solutions that maximize value for our customers. A very specific project you will work on relates to development of a new subsea product, alongside team members from other departments in a multidisciplinary complex project, in collaboration with external partners and institutes.

Key responsibilities and tasks:

  • Work on Materials & Structural Engineering-related tasks and deliverables in new material or product development projects
  • Support the qualification of new materials for new and existing products with focus on mechanical testing and analysis
  • Drive product design DFMEA’s and define DVPL’s with guidance and support from our Principal and Chief engineers.
  • Conduct or define the need for advanced analyses (e.g. numerical FE or analytical analyses)
  • Define production requirements in collaboration with Operations and Production Engineering team
  • Support our material specialists in maintaining the materials database and improving best practices and internal standards within the team
  • Define material and product test programs performed internally or at external laboratories
  • Analyze and interpret test data and technical documentation related to material, process, and product derisking
  • Deliver technical documentation of the tests and analyses done

Your qualifications and skills:
In addition to an engineering degree (M.Sc. in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or similar) and a solid mechanical foundation, we value an open-minded, committed, and independent personality. You are proactive, collaborate naturally with others, and take ownership of getting work done in the best possible way.

  • Engineering degree  
  • 0-5 years of relevant experience (preferably from the wind industry or polymers)
  • General understanding of material systems, structural design, and qualification, testing, and validation methods
  • Tools & methods: FEA, CAD, basic programming for engineering applications
  • Strong analytical mindset; able to analyze and interpret data
  • Able to work independently with well-defined tasks (planning, testing, documentation) and ability to deliver tasks on time (strong finisher)
  • Strong communicator in English (written and spoken)
