What are we looking for

We are seeking a self-driven and positive-minded team player to join our Synergy team as Group Legal Counsel. This position is based at Marine Benefits’ office in Bergen and can be filled immediately.

The Synergy team is responsible for implementing Marine Benefits’ strategy both in our organization and towards our medical networks. In addition, the team is responsible for improving processes and to make sure that they comply with appropriate laws and regulations. As the Synergy team works closely with the entire organization and our medical network, some travelling is to be expected with this role.

Qualities and skills 

Our ideal candidate is service-minded, flexible and solution-oriented. You work well under pressure and are comfortable with handling several tasks simultaneously. A positive attitude is a must, as is the need to be a team player who is able to work independently when needed. Applicants must have a structured mindset and a keen eye for detail, yet still be able to see the bigger picture. You are trustworthy, comfortable with a high level of responsibility and place great emphasis on customer satisfaction.

Our preferred candidate will  have a commercial mindset, strategic experience and a law degree, preferably also qualified as a lawyer. You know how to interpret laws and regulations, implement the required measures and ensure compliance with the same. You are experienced with drafting international contracts, negotiations and service level compliance.

A strong command of English and solid knowledge of Norwegian, verbal and written, is mandatory.

We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants from similar positions in international organizations, or within a similar field in insurance/finance/shipping.

Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Strategic alignment of global networks, contracts, due diligence and service levels;
  • Group compliance;
  • Managing internal audits;
  • Implementation of a complaints-handling strategy to create value as well as mandatory reporting and quality follow through;
  • Project participation within strategy projects and implementation of change/improvements.
