Electrical Technician

Purpose:

To maintain, repair and install a range of electrical and mechanical equipment in an efficient and cost-effective manner, whilst complying with the laid-down Company Health and Safety policy. Also working in an ad hoc shift roster intended to offer the best possible support to the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Adhering to all company regulation, safety, hygiene and quality procedures.
  • Contributing to safety management by identifying and recording, ,as necessary safety issues such as near misses and accidents. 
  • Maintaining and repairing all plant and facility equipment, machinery and systems. 
  • Where plant and equipment is non-repairable, to make recommendations to management regarding suitable replacement.
  • Ensure that all plant and equipment is maintained to the highest possible standards, and is fit for purpose, meeting all H&S and industry requirements, (Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 also bs 7671 Current Edition/Amendment as a minimum).
  • Liaising with, assisting and monitoring, external contract workers .
  • Writing end-of-shift reports and defect reports as required.
  • Identifying spares requirements and ensuring these are passed on to line managers.
  • Identifying and recommending improvements to machine reliability and efficiency.
  • Help manage and control site third party contractors and ensure service inspection paperwork is correctly filed on site.
  • Carry out minor alterations and installations within the individual’s technical competence in accordance with current specifications. Also carry out all relevant testing and inspection supported with full company certification.
  • Carry out surveys and complete reports as required by management.
  • Inspect and test electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with current codes of practice.
  • Provide engineering maintenance support within the facilities area (including the DAF plant).
  • Any other reasonable task or tasks as required by management.

There are four key responsibilities attached to the weekend security aspects of the role, these being:

  • Maintaining the physical security of Mowi buildings, offices and grounds.
  • Acting as the general custodians of Mowi buildings, offices and grounds.
  • Assisting with Mowi emergency responses (including responses to fires).
  • Manning the Mowi building reception.

Organisational Fit:

FM Electrical Technicians will work under the local direction of the FM Supervisor and management team.

At all Times:

  • Liaise with the project teams on any site alterations, modernisations and other relevant    works.
  • Maintain accurate Timesheets if requested.
  • Attend training courses as and where necessary and to ensure personal job skills keep pace with technical developments.
  • Comply with the company Health and Safety Policy at all times.
  • Work with company to ensure laid-down standards of quality are maintained at all times.
