Remote Fish Feeder - Port Hardy

We are seeking an experienced Fish Feeder to join the Saltwater Department at our Feed Center located in Port Hardy, BC. The successful candidate will contribute to the optimal feeding of salmon to selected sites, through the implementation of the company's feeding strategy. The ability to get along with a wide variety of people from different backgrounds and cultures is paramount. We look for employees who are self-motivated, well organized and have a positive attitude. Successful applicants must be physically fit and have a passion for taking care of animals.

Responsibilities:

  • Remote feeding of salmon from the control room at the operation center
  • Adhere to the company's feeding strategy
  • Continuous monitoring and reporting of feeding
  • Record daily production data
  • Communication and daily planning between the operation center and sites
  • Ability to handle changes and influence changes
  • Ensure that the company's Health and Safety routines are executed
  • Contribute to routines and tasks to be carried out in accordance with procedures and guidelines for the organization
  • Provide suggestions for improvements and measures
  • Report to the nearest manager regarding non-conformities and incidents in accordance with the company's guidelines
  • Know and follow the company's internal control and incident management system in accordance with procedures and guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 to 4 years’ experience feeding fish at saltwater sites
  • Post-secondary certificate or diploma preferred
  • Possess strong background in feed and environmental risk management
  • Basic computer skills (e.g. Aqua Farmer, word processing &  spreadsheets)
  • The ability to work safely and effectively in challenging work environmental conditions

This is a 8 days on/6 days off day shift (no camp accommodations or transportation provided) and therefore more suited to someone living on the North Island.

Wage:  $24.98/hour to $28.39/hour
