Consultant anaesthesiologist and clinical professor in Anaesthesiology

 

A clinical position as consultant of neuroanaesthesiology and neurointensive care at the Department of Neurointensive Care and Neuroanaesthesiology, The Neuroscience Centre, Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet, is open for appointment as soon as possible.

 

The position is combined with a 10 year-position as clinical professor of Anaesthesiology at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

 

With this new position, the Department of Neurointensive Care and Neuroanaesthesiology, Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.

 

It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Neurointensive Care and Neuroanaesthesiology at Rigshospitalet is part of the Neuroscience Center and provides advanced anaesthetic procedures and neurointensive care as a tertiary referral centre for East Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Greenland, - a  population of approximately 2.5 million people. The department is one of five anaesthesiological departments at Rigshospitalet, and caters for all neurosurgical, neurological and spinal cord injury patients. The 200 employees of which 40 are physicians administer anaesthesia for approximately 3000 surgical procedures, 500 endovascular treatments and 800 MRI-scans every year and provides care for 1200 intensive care patients annually. The medical staff at the Department of Neuroanaesthesiology has pre-graduate as well as post-graduate teaching responsibilities in neuroanaesthesiology and neurointensive care.

 

Research and teaching

With the position as a consultant neuroanaesthesiologist and clinical professor in clinical neuroanaesthesiology and neurointensive care, The Department of Neurointensive Care and Neuroanesthesiology wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research focusing on development of neuroanaesthesia and advanced intensive treatment of patients with neurological and neurosurgical diseases. The position entails teaching and propagating the advanced treatment principles and the research done within neuroanaesthesiology and neurointensive care nationally and internationally.

 

Qualifications:

Applicants must be board-certified specialists in anaesthesiology with extensive clinical experience in the field, and furthermore be highly accomplished in clinical research within neuroanaesthesiology and neurointensive care.

 

Conditions:

In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Rigshospitalet.

 

Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.

 

As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of The Department of Neurointensive Care and Neuroanaesthesiology. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full time secretary position from the department of Neurointensive Care and Neuroanaesthesiology. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the department of The Department of Neurointensive Care and Neuroanaesthesiology,Rigshospitalet.
