We are seeking a new colleague to our Corporate Engagement team who wants to put human rights at the centre of business behaviour.



A CHANCE TO WORK WITH THE PRIVATE SECTOR TO DEVELOP SOLUTIONS  
 
You will be part of an international team of experts based in Copenhagen, working across the intersections of human rights, business and sustainable development. Your role will be to work directly with leading multinational companies and investors on human rights and sustainable development as a part of our Corporate Engagement team, including through activities such as:  
 
  • Policy and procedure gap analysis  
  • Human rights training and capacity development  
  • Impact identification and assessments at company- and site level  
  • Tools and methods development  
 
The Danish Institute for Human Rights is a state institution, independent of government with a national and international mandate provided by law. The Danish Institute is known by its partners for being collaborative and trustworthy and for taking responsibility for creating long-lasting solutions. The Danish Institute for Human Rights works internationally to promote human rights-based approaches to business and sustainable development. We work with businesses and other key actors to ensure business respect for human rights and recognise human rights as a key part of ensuring that business and private finance contribute effectively to sustainable development towards 2030.  
 
 
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR  
You are someone who knows human rights and leading business and human rights frameworks, enjoys working directly with companies, and understands the role of the private sector in sustainable development.  
 
You have: 
  • More than 2 years of experience working with human rights due diligence in the company setting  
  • Been involved in analysis and policy discussions on the role of the private sector in development  
  • Knowledge of international advocacy and development cooperation  
  • The ability to combine practice, policy, and research and you understand the mandate and role of a National Human Rights Institution.  
 
As a colleague, you are constructive, flexible, organised and put the team first. You are able to define and follow a strategy and prioritise your time in a rapidly evolving field and when managing several projects at the same time. You like working internationally, have intercultural competencies and develop professional networks where you go. You understand that administration is part of the job. You have excellent command of English and ideally, you speak an additional major language (French and Spanish preferred). Finally, you believe work should be fun and value ongoing dialogue and co-creation with colleagues.  
 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT  
The position is full-time based in Copenhagen with significant international travel (up to 3 months a year). Salary and other conditions are set in accordance with the Danish Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations, as applicable.
